Most people posting have retake potential. That's why so many people here post "retake! Most people here are US. So most advice doesn't apply. Feel free to ask questions, though, there are some Canadians. Big differences:. Hi everybody, I was wondering what everyone's take is on Vanderbilt? Is it regional or national? Im also curious to know everyone's opinion on Vanderbilt in general? Thanks everybody! The whole regional vs national vs super-regional vs whatever other term people want to throw in there distinction is honestly pretty murky.

These are terms mostly coined and used by anonymous Internet commenters, many of whom may very well still be 0Ls. There are some schools which are undoubtedly regional--they aren't well known or well regarded outside of their state and their graduates overwhelming work in the same state often the same city.

This probably starts somewhere in the T1 this is also a fairly arbitrary line and continues down from there. There are some schools which are pretty clearly national. In fact, these schools aren't just national, they're generally world-renowned.

They're schools like Yale, Harvard, and Stanford. But even among these elite three, if you were to look at their job placement, you'd no doubt find that there is still some regional bias to these schools e.

Vanderbilt vs UConn

Most would just chalk that up to self-selection I think rightly sobut it does nevertheless show how the regional vs national boundary can be a bit rough, even around the edges. As you go down the line, the call becomes increasingly tough.

Roles and challenges of management

If you wanted to work in Chicago, would you choose Cornell or Northwestern at the same price? What about Columbia or UChicago? Obviously one would favor Northwestern, and probably UChicago. But in either case, these T13s still aren't usually considered regional. Anyhow, the point is that these distinctions that we Internet commenters draw are often at least a little bit arbitrary and arguable.

You should strive to analyze and compare whole schools and all their job placement details rather than rely on Internet commenters to cram them into a box--if only because these aren't really boxes, if anything, they're poles of a sliding scale. While their two largest employment regions were South Atlantic and East South Central, these still accounted for only Moreover, Vanderbilt A good example of this blurriness might be a school like IU or Iowa.

While I think most would agree IU is a pretty solid school, I think most would also agree they are definitely a regional school. He'll answer any question, including about his studies abroad or his research at NASA.
